Justin Coleman on the rise?

 Taking young commits is a major question in recruiting today.  Fans want to get commitments early so they can just sit back and watch their future stars role in without worry about their coach having a bad recruiting class.  There is something to say for programs who hold onto a few spots until recruits are actual seniors.  One of those reasons is a case like Justin Coleman sf/sg out of Richmond Virginia....

Xavier Henry unsure about Kansas?

Reports are starting to surface that Rivals and Scout Top Five player Xavier Henry may not go to the University of Kansas, after all.  After father Carl Henry made a radio appearance and spoke of his younger star basketball player, reports indicated that Henry may move to Kentucky and become a Wildcat.

James Beatty commits to Rutgers

According to Zagsblog one of the few remaining point guards eligible for the 2009-2010 season has committeed.  6'2 point guard James Beatty has found his hom with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. 

Beatty spent two years at Miami Dade College and has two years of eligibilty. He was also considering Baylor, St. John's and DePaul.  Rutgers just lost their starting point guard Anthony Farmer and Beatty noted the ability to come in right away and possibly starting was a major factor in his decision. Rutgers now have four pure guards in Corey Chandler, Mike Rosario, Mike Coburn and now James Beatty. 

 

Lance Stephenson has found a home...

According to Zagsblog the saga of Stephenson may be coming close to an end...he has picked a school...finally...or at least he found a school to take him...an odd statement to say about one of the best players in the country.  Unless you have been under a rock you know this isn't just a situation where a recruit is dragging out where he wants to go...he was having a hard time finding a school that would take the risk on him.  He is in the middle of facing criminal charges that if convicted could spend up to 6 months in jail and his eligibility has been in question after being involved in a film about his life as a basketball player. In the end at least one school believed it worth the risk...

Elliot Williams former high school McDonald's All American has been released from Duke stating he needed to be closer to home to be with his mom who is battling a sickness. His family is from Memphis so of course schools in the running would have to be close to Memphis. According to commercialappeal.com he is considering four schools.... Theus, the former Sacramento Kings  and New Mexico State coach, joins Pitt's Jamie Dixon and UNLV's Lon Kruger who have said no to USC following the resignation of Tim Floyd.
